Joanna is the Lead Counsellor at The Counselling Space.
Joanna is trained as an Integrative Counsellor from a Diploma in Counselling to an MSc in Psychology. She currently works within the NHS offering assessment and evidence-based therapy utilising Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Joanna has worked for a range of counselling agencies in recent years where she utilises other counselling modalities including Person Centered, Solution Focused and Mindfulness. She works closely with her clients to compassionately address issues important to them.
Joanna takes great pleasure in assisting the restoration of people towards a future they want, to regain positivity and to reduce stress or worry. She provides a calming space where people can feel at ease and open up about their concerns and problems.
Joanna has worked with a variety of individuals from various cultures and religious beliefs. Joanna works with adults of all faiths and none. Joanna is a registered counsellor of the BACP and ACC. Joanna has been trained in an approach that has ‘5 circles’ to it including a spiritual element. This means that she can help you to explore where you find your self-worth, significance and security. The other elements are emotional, physical, rational and volitional. Although having received training in Christian Counselling, Joanna does not pray with her clients during sessions, however if counselling a Christian client she may reference Christian resources if appropriate.
In addition to providing private counselling services, Joanna has previously operated as a counsellor at Manna House Counselling Service, Northampton and Heart and Mind London.
