Walk and Talk Counselling
Healing Happens Naturally Outdoors
For many people, the idea of sitting in a counselling room can feel intense, intimidating or restrictive. If you find yourself thinking more clearly while walking, breathing easier outdoors, or feeling calmer surrounded by nature, walk and talk counselling may be a powerful alternative.
Walk and talk counselling offers all the depth of traditional therapy—while taking place outdoors, in natural surroundings that support your wellbeing and increase your sense of serenity.

What Is Walk and Talk Counselling?
Walk and talk counselling is exactly what it sounds like: therapy sessions that take place while walking side by side, in parks, forest trails, or other quiet natural spaces. The focus remains on your emotional wellbeing, goals, and challenges, but the environment becomes an active part of the healing process.
Sessions are paced to suit you. Some people walk steadily, others pause, sit on benches, or stand still when needed. There is no pressure—just movement that feels natural and supportive.
Why Nature Supports Emotional Wellbeing
Nature has a profound effect on our mental and emotional health. Research consistently shows that time outdoors can:
• Reduce stress and anxiety
• Improve mood and emotional regulation
• Lower feelings of overwhelm
• Increase clarity, creativity, and perspective
• Support nervous system regulation
Being surrounded by trees, open skies, fresh air, and natural sounds can help calm the mind and body, making it easier to open up, reflect and feel grounded.
Who Is Walk and Talk Counselling For?
Walk and talk counselling can be especially helpful if you:
• Feel anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed
• Experience low mood or burnout
• Struggle with traditional indoor therapy settings
• Feel more at ease outdoors than indoors
• Want a more holistic, mind-body approach to counselling
Where?
For our first session, it may be that you’d prefer this to be online or face to face. It is also possible to do a mix of walk and talk and online and face to face. Outdoor sessions can be done in a variety of locations in Kettering and the surrounding areas. Please contact me to discuss a location. Suggested areas could be:
Wicksteed Park
Weekly Woods
Prologis Park Kettering
Country Parks e.g. Fermyn Woods
Cranford
Twywell Hills and Dales
What if it’s raining?
Walk and talk counselling happens even when it is raining, so wearing or bringing the right clothes and shoes is important! However, if there is a Met Office weather warning then the session can be cancelled with no payment required. If you would prefer to switch the session to online or face to face then this can be done if arranged in advance. Face to face sessions would be dependent on room availability and would require an additional charge for the room booking fee.
If you’re curious about a counselling experience that feels less clinical and more connected, walk and talk counselling may be the next step on your journey.
